Do you have eyes that turn down at the outer corners? How about your lips?
These are things that happen to women at some point and can really put a hamper on self confidence/self esteem. It's at this point that you feel like kicking those young girls square in the ass! Damn them for having their collagen still!!!
Short of plastic surgery there are some things we can do to cheat aging. Number one, go get yourself a younger hot guy .....I'm sorry, was that out loud? Yep, I think it was. Moving on..........
You don't need to be a professional makeup artist to follow these easy peasy tips at home. So open up that Betty Boop makeup bag and let's get started!Eyes downturn at the outer corners?
When applying your darker shade of color in the crease stop short of the end of the eye by at least 1/4 inch if not a little more. All color on the eye should stop short of the outer corner of the eye. Why? This will make your eye appear "rounder" and will divert attention away from the outer corner of your eye. You will also want to stop short with your mascara application.
Wanna give your eyes an instant lift?
After applying your foundation, take a makeup sponge wedge (make sure it's a wedge) turn it on its side and dip in face powder on to two shades lighter than your normal face powder color. Then take the wedge, still on its side (this would be the very narrow part of the wedge) and apply it at the outside corner of your eye using an angled and upward motion toward the temple (this will be easy because the wedge is angled). Why? Whenever you use lighter colors you are highlighting an area and this will bring attention to this area and force you to follow the direction of this highlighted area, which is "up and out" giving the illusion that the eye is lifting "up". This is really an amazing trick that I discovered years ago messing around with shading and highlighting. If you don't have any powder that is lighter or don't want to invest in another face powder you can simply use a cream colored or creamy light beige colored eyeshadow. Also this trick will work with a lighter color concealer. Extra tip: Apply a few extra coats of mascara on the lashes at the outer most corner, this will also give the eye a lift.
Lips downturn at the corners?
When you apply your lipstick use a lip brush, preferably a long handled sable lip brush. Start at the center of your lips and work your way out. Just as with the trick for the down turned eyes, you will stop juuuust short of the corners of your mouth. Why? It will divert the attention away from those droopy corners and make the lips appear fuller.
If you have wrinkles on your eyes stay away from the shimmer or glittery eye shadows like you would the plague, or for these days, maybe I should say the H1N1 Swine Flu!!! Why? Shimmer shadows or glittery shadows will just highlight your wrinkles. As we age we want to start wearing lighter shadow colors. Dark shadows and heavy makeup in general will just make you look older and "harsh". Lighter, cleaner makeup is what to strive for on aging skin.
A really quick and easy way to give your eyes a lift and take a few years off your face is to ALWAYS make sure your brows are groomed and cleaned up. Whether you tweeze or have them waxed it will do wonders for the overall appearance of your face. By the same token however, if you jack your brows up or somebody else waxes them all crazy you could actually add years to your face. Always exercise extreme caution when tweezing or waxing, either make sure you know what your doing or go to someone who knows what the hell they're doing!! Just because they work in a salon or spa doesn't mean they know what they are doing.........trust me!!!
