Things You'll Need
* Hair ties
* Water
* Bandana
* Hair spray or mousse
* Hair dryer
Steps:
Step One:
Start with a damp head of hair. Starting with a wet head helps the braids set better.
Step Two:
Split your hair into your regular part. Remember that it’s hard to change your part once it’s in waves, so do not skip this step!
Step Three:
Start at the front of your hair. Split into thick squares across your hairline. Thin hair should have 2-3 on each side of the part. Thick hair will have 3-5. Splitting into thicker sections will cause looser waves.
Step Four:
Continue making squares like these from the front of your hair to the back.
Step Five
Tie each with a hair tie, and cover your head with a bandana.
Step Six:
Sleep on the braids. Your hair will usually be dry in the morning. If not use a blowdryer on low to dry wet braids.
Step Seven:
Untie the braids and gently unfold the twists. Finger-style gently.
Step Eight
Add hair spray or mousse for extra hold.
Overall Tips & Warnings:
* For a funkier, crimped look, make smaller, tighter braids.
* To make your waves a little wild, flip your head upside-down and spray generously with hairspray. This will add generous volume.
* Do not brush your hair with these waves! It will only turn your hair into a frizzy mess!
