As a selected Dermalogica skin care location, Kathrine Heinzman Skin & Body Care Centre of Ventura will host a fundraiser from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday for Join FITE — Financial Independence Through Entrepreneurship. Join FITE is the international women's initiative launched by Dermalogica in partnership with Kiva.org, a microfinance nonprofit organization and one of Oprah's "Favorite Things.

The goal of Join FITE is to mirror the impact of the skin care industry in supporting women entrepreneurs, and empower 25,000 women from around the world to start or grow any business they are passionate about over the next two years. Consumers may participate in the funding of loans for these entrepreneurs by visiting http://www.joinFITE.org and redeeming a code issued in five specified Dermalogica products. They are able to actively engage in the lending process by identifying where their $1 is directed. They then receive progress updates on the specific entrepreneur they just helped fund. The event invites guests to learn about the way taking care of their own skin can help women here and around the world, by participating in the Join FITE initiative.
